Ross Viles2021-08-26I was absolutely shocked to find that none of the nursing staff were wearing masks. I encountered three nurses who were all unmasked. I don’t understand how this could possibly be allowed during a deadly pandemic and with already compromised residents. The staff are not only endangering themselves but they are endangering the residents as well by not wearing masks. I just can’t wrap my head around this being that this is a medical facility. There may not be a mask mandate but employees working at assisted living facilities are REQUIRED to wear masks to keep others safe. On top of that, the receptionist wasn’t friendly at all. As with anywhere, issues occasionally arise but the Administration girly is always willing to listen and has been very helpful and is easy on the eyes 😍 seriously though she has always been there and actually cares about the residents! In that short amount of time I have become aquainted with some of the residents and most of the staff. Coming from a background of restaurants and hospitality this is a breath of fresh air. The people and personalities are as diverse as the colors of the rainbow. When I first started I saw some areas of oppurtunity as no place is perfect, this was expected. I addressed those areas with the Executive Director and plans were put in place to have them addressed. Many of the reviews I have read are from years ago. With the facility being under new administration, issues that are brought up are adressed and taken care of with near military precision. I ask that you come tour, meet the people, experience Sand Plum. Have one of my cookies and sit by the fireplace. A visit here is a visit with family, come, stay, relax. Creating a warm family environment is Sand Plums top priority. It’s not uncommon to see residents visiting in administrative offices sharing stories and snacks. We miss the pre covid time when families were Daily visitors and grandkids regularly present for dinner, but with the amazing diligence of all the staff I’m sure we will get back to that soon. Michael Kamal2020-07-16I don’t normally leave reviews but I was so upset at the condition of this place that I had to say something. My grandma lives here and every time I talk to her I hear about the latest issues with the building. She’s told me about big leaks that aren’t being fixed, very poor quality food, or bed bug infestations that don’t seem to bother anyone in charge. There have also been issues with the building’s utilities - the AC went down for a long time without being fixed and the plumbing is a disaster. These are big issues for most people, but for seniors these can be life-threatening problems that aren’t being addressed. Honestly, if I lived closer I would have pulled my grandma out of the home but unfortunately it’s not up to me. I wouldn’t recommend sending anyone here unless they make serious changes to the facility.
We have chosen Sand Plum. My wife will have round-the-clock care, and they will administer her medications, make sure that she is fed and bathed, and take care of the upkeep of things that she needs. They have some entertainment and different activities going on. They had a singer in one day, plus bingo and little activities in the hall. My wife has only been to a couple of things. They provide shuttle services to and from her doctor. My wife also does dialysis, so they are providing shuttle services back and forth to her dialysis appointments. The staff members are very helpful and try to help with every need. I know they have several other clients there, but they have been very helpful, and make sure that my wife is being taken care of.
My friend has lived here for 5 years. She loves the staff and the homelike atmosphere.
Sand Plum is nice and clean. The staff is phenomenal, responsive, and very kind. The rooms were average. The dining room was nice and open; it allowed the residents to mingle more. They had a card room and simple activities. It was a great option for most people.
